NC History Exhibit – Return to the Land of my Ancestors @ Iredell Museums
Oct 13 @ 6:00 pm

Our new exhibit is opening on October 14th and it will be featuring the art of Robert Crum. Crum has been painting from a very early age and remembers being told, “you’re going to be an artist when you grow up.” He has indeed grown up to become an artist and has been painting full-time for the last 17 years. The works curated for “Return to the Land of My Ancestors” are based on the life and times of Daniel Boone. Crum is a direct descendant of Boone and became inspired to focus on this topic as a reflection of his connection to his ancestors.

Carolyn DeMeritt Art Exhibit @ Iredell Arts Council/The Old Jail
Jan 16 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Carolyn DeMeritt’s photographs give us a glimpse into her perception of the world, transforming it into our own experience. The space between the viewer and the subject becomes meaningful, strange and beautiful in its own right, almost nostalgic or melancholic, and through its own aesthetic. DeMeritt acts as the gate between dimensions, objects (dolls) and figures (people) become intertwined in this version of reality that she is able to visualize and make it available for the rest of us. She is truly a master of her medium. We know we have peeked into an alternate state of things, and we will carry it with us in our memories of the show, still digesting what we have experienced.

Spring Art Crawl @ Downtown Statesville
Apr 27 @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Over the years, Downtown Statesville’s Art Crawl has grown to be a crowd favorite each fall and spring! The Spring Art Crawl will be Friday, April 27 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. With over 50 artists in 35 different locations, there is no shortage of local talent to admire! This free event invites all ages to come stroll the sidewalks of Historic Downtown Statesville.

Art Crawl deepens the community’s commitment to the arts by highlighting talented artists of all levels and experience. A program/map directing attendees to all the locations and listing all participating artists will be available at each location. Along the route, you will find many forms of art—jewelry, pottery, acrylic and oil paintings, wood turning, and so much more. Live music inside and outside (weather permitting) at different locations will add to the artistic feel of the evening. We invite you to come browse the shops and businesses, dine at the restaurants, admire the talent in our community and beyond, and discover all that Downtown has to offer.

We especially would like to acknowledge our Art Crawl sponsors – Sheri Bistreich and Associates, a financial advisory practice, Ameriprise Financial and Statesville Jewelry & Loan for their support of this event. Parking during the Art Crawl is available on-street and in 9 public lots throughout the business district. For more information contact Downtown Statesville at 704-878-3436 or
