BREAK OUT YOUR DANCING SHOES! Join your friends and family for a night of Classic Country, Western Swing, Honky Tonk, and Rockabilly music from the 50s, 60s and forward that is rooted in tradition as the Mystery Hillbillies come to the Piedmont HealthCare Friday After 5 Summer Concert Series on August 23, 2019.

Michelle Belanger fronts the Mystery Hillbillies, applying her powerful voice and dance as well as inspiring guitar skills to a selection of tunes that sit at the intersection of 50s R&B, Classic Country, Rockabilly, Hillbilly Boogie and Swing. She combines familiar and classic tunes from Hank, Patsy, Elvis, Emmylou, Chuck Berry with surprises from Brenda Lee, Webb Pierce, Rosie Flores and Jerry Reed- stuff you won’t hear anywhere else. She will be ably assisted by the very excellent Calvin Johnson on upright bass, Mel Jones on drums, and (Statesville’s own) John Marler on lead guitar. All are seasoned players with over 30 years experience each, playing classic country, rockabilly, swing and R&B. They are sure to get you moving, so bring your dancing shoes.

The Piedmont HealthCare Friday After 5 Summer Concert Series offers FREE entertainment to Statesville’s residents, neighbors and visitors in Downtown Statesville from May through September and features music of all styles. Whether you enjoy Beach Music and Country or Blues and Rock and Roll, you’ll hear something you will enjoy to dance and sing along to!

The concerts are held in Downtown Statesville on West Broad Street in front of Mitchell Community College from 5:30–8:30 pm. Beer, wine, soft drinks, sweets from Andrea’s Ice Cream & Sweet Shop and food from Wilson’s Weenie Wagon will be available for purchase. Bring your chairs and enjoy a great night of music, but pets, outside beverages, or coolers are NOT allowed.

Be sure to bring cash to the welcome tent near the entrance by Kelly Street to purchase tokens to use in the beer and wine tent. Concert goers can cool off with a selection of soda, water, wine, domestic bottled and craft beer on draft from local breweries “Fourth Creek Brewing” and “Red Buffalo Brewing.” The selection of craft beer will be:

Fourth Creek Brewing’s ‘Liberty Smash’ is a light and refreshing pale ale coming in at 4.5% APV with a mild flavor and aroma of Liberty hops. This beer proudly showcases 100% Iredell grown barley.

Red Buffalo’s flagship beer, ‘Red Ale’ at 5.8%, provides mellow hints of malts and grains with a crisp finish.

‘Wilsons Weenie Wagon’ will be returning to offer delicious hotdogs and brats for your enjoyment. This is a crowd favorite so you won’t want to miss it!

Mark your calendars and make sure you don’t miss any of these upcoming dates:
August 23 – Mystery Hillbillies (Rockabilly, Boogie & Blues, Classic Country)
September 6 – Caribbean Roots (Latin)
